The Gun Game
The game can be played with 2 or more players, the larger the group, the better.
You need a “Gun”, not a real gun but something that can serve as representation, such as a Nerf gun or a blunt kitchen knife.
You should not use the “Gun” for any reason whatsoever.
Place the gun in the group's centre so that each person can pick it up as easily as the others.
The game begins once the gun is in position and nobody has touched it for at least one minute.
The gun is now nobody’s property, and nobody should touch it.
The gun has only one ability: to take the life of other people.
The gun does not have to be used to kill people in order for its ability to be used.
The gun can be used to make people do what the wielder says.
The gun can be used to extort people for value.
The gun can be used to reshape society into the image of your values.
The gun represents governmental authority.
Each of you is a representative of 10 million people from a new colony on a newly settled planet somewhere in the galaxy.
The colony has a small police force and a few judges, but there is no free public healthcare, education, fire department, roads, power plant, food and drug authority or logistics facility. Private citizens handle all of these and charge money for them.
You have 20 minutes to decide who should have the gun
You can make your case for how you would organise society and make a case for the values you believe should be provided for free.
The game ends when someone picks up the gun or the timer runs out.
There are different outcomes depending on who picked it up, click here to see your result.
